One evening, Gabrielle found a parade of slimy visitors making their way up the bathroom wall. Their access hole into the bathroom has now been blocked up and we haven’t seen them again since.

Damp Gardening
Late July and early August has not been a great month for weather but we have made some progress in the garden. The privet hedge was getting a bit out of control so we reduced its height by a few feet. The clippings are being mulched and composted. The old fence around the house has been recycled into a pair of compost bins. Our latest weapon against the stubborn weeds is a flame gun. It seems to be doing a good job after an initial session but I’m sure that repeated applications of blazing heat will be required to eradicate the more persistent specimens of nettles, brambles and ground elder.
