We spent a weekend at Ettrickbridge on one of Ian’s Music Weekends, learning and singing Sea Shanties. The event was hosted by master accordionist Ian Lowthian at his home, Kirkhope House, an old manse at the edge of the village. Ian’s wife Janey kept us supplied with delicious home bakes, lunch and an evening meal which we were lucky enough to be able to eat out in the garden. We stayed at the Cross Keys Inn in Ettrickbridge and the group of musicians and singers invaded the bar area on the Saturday evening for a lively session of nautical songs and tunes.
